Here is one of the oddities of life. For years I bought cheap coffee makers. Usually did not pay over $20.00 for one. And they worked fine for years at a time. This time I bought a Cuisinart grind and brew coffee maker, paid over $125.00. I bought this maker in February, and here it is April and it is not working properly. I called Cuisinart and they have graciously offered to replace it. But I have to pay to have it shipped there, and then send them $10.00 to have the new one shipped to me. It seems to me that if I pay that kind of money for a 'top of the line' coffee maker, it should 1) last more then 2 months, and 2) they should be paying me to have their defective product replaced. Such is life, but I just don't understand!!!

I realized that I had posted current pictures of everyone except Mike and Angie, Patrick's parents. They live where it is even hotter, (in my opinion) that Torreon, MX. Aren't they a lovely couple. Mike's beard comes and goes, but he is handsome in either case.

HERE THEY ARE!!!! I don't know why the other pictures did not work, but this is my second choice of a picture. See my other post for my comments on this.
Well, I cannot figure out why the pictures of the tulips did not appear. I tried again this morning and still no tulips. Sorry, I will ask Katy to help me. In the meantime, here is a picture of Patrick. He is wearing Grandpa Mike's new felt hat. Patrick said it was a magic hat and was using his magic wand (check his hands) to try to 'stir' things up. This boy is a joy to me. I smile just thinking of him. Grandpa Mike thinks he is pretty special also, as I am sure that his own kids would not have been able to play with his NEW hat.

Well, this is the second time I have tried to upload/download my picture. I dont know if it will show up or not. But if it does, I hope you enjoy my first tulips in 5 years. I so missed the spring flowers living in Mexico. To my friends still in Torreon, These are for you!!!

Yesterday, this group of lovely ladies attended what was called 'ATTITUDES EVENT'. First one I have ever attended. It started at noon and did not end until almost 9:00PM. The day included mini-sessions with topics like "Tips for digital shutterbugs", "Memory Preservation" and "Top tips for Taming the Paper Tiger" and sponsor seminars with subjects titled "New developments in Facial Rejuvenation"( my personal favorite) and "Kitchen Trends & Lifestyles". It also included an exhibition hall with over 70 Exhibitors of almost everything a woman could be interested in---- beauty, home, health, hobbies. And most of them gave away really nice samples and gifts. At the end of the afternoon, there was a dinner(delicious), style show and a keynote speaker, Kim Alexis, a supermodel most famous in the late 70's. It was a really good day esp. since I spent it with my friends pictured here. And to top the evening off 2 of us were WINNERS of the door prizes. Wendy, (in yellow) and Shirley (in lime green). Shirley was the biggest winner because not only did she win the lovely table centerpiece (shown in picture) but she won one of the grand prizes of a private dinner for 8. She is such a sweet person that she has promised to take all of us with her to the dinner. Yea, Shirley!! Pictured left to right, Wendy, Mynra, me, Shirley, Margie, and Pat.

Now for everyone else, here are Chris and Tricia. We are all very excited because we recently were told that the new baby (our new grandchild) will be a baby girl, to be named Madeline Sophia. Beautiful couple, beautiful name, beautiful baby for sure.

Here's another one for you, Tricia and Chris.

This one is for you, Tricia. Here is what your husband looked like as a baby.

For everyone who has been asking, finally here is a picture of our house in Iowa. Front and back. Lots of room for visitors, so please come. Just remember that until Mid June, we will have to eat at the tiny kitchen table and kitchen counters because the replacement dinning room set will not be delivered until then. And great news, the insurance company for the movers and the storage companies have covered our losses completly.

Here is the stain glass window we purchased in Torreon, Mx before we moved. It was a Christmas gift to each other and was delivered to the house ready for shipment 2 days before the moving company came to pack us out, so no one, including us was able to view it before we left. FYI. the dark 'bar' down the center is from the house window, not the stain glass one. But all the windows in this house are made this way, so there was not choice to display it better.

On Saturday night we had dinner with Katy and Kent and friends to celebrate four of their birthdays. Katy's was on the 4 of April and Kents was on the 8th. Here they are as king and queen of the day. Isn't Kent a good sport to go along with wearing the crowns Katy brought for the occasion? There were also crowns for the other 2 birthdays, Sara and her mom. Their picture will follow.
The restaurant was in Washington, Iowa called the Cafe Dodici. Fantastic food, great, friendly and helpful waitstaff.
Happy Birthdays everyone!! It was a fun night.

Here is Birthday Sara and her birthday mom. Sorry but for the life of me I cannot remember her name just now. It will come to me as soon as I publish this. But aren't they pretty ladies!?! That's her stepdad on the end.

How about this for the 70's show. In uploading some of our recent picutres, I ran across this from 1974. If you recognize the lady, send her a note saying Hi.

Look at our brother Bernard (c. 1966)! Isn't he just adooooorable?

Today Kate and I embarked on a new project. We organized and began scanning the family slides. I (Mike) bought a camera in 1964 and was able to start personally photo-journaling my family. At that time I was still living at home. The first pic is my son, Mikey, on my shoulders (taken circa 1971). That was pulled from our first tray of slides. Tray one is a compilation Nettie was putting together of all time kid's moments. The second and third picture were taken circa 1964-65. The second picture includes (clockwise) Grandma Obert, Wee, myself, and Dad. The next pic is of good ole' Mike Moyer and my sister Marsha. That's Jim in the corner there.
There are 64 trays to get through. We got through five of them today. More memories for us Oberts and Wuennemanns soon to come...
