Last week was a special happy week. It started with a surprise visit from a dear, Deere friend. Jenny who was also in Torreon when we first lived there was in town for a short visit and we were able to have lunch together and a nice long talk. I don't know how I would have survived those first months in Mexico without her. She will always have a very special place in my heart. I have been trying to upload a photo of her, but for some reason the blog will not complete the upload.

The second and biggest happy event was of course the birth of Madeline Sophia. We are anxiously awaiting more photos of Madeline and will blog them as soon as we can.

The third happy event was also an arrival. Pictured here is Mike launching his new boat. It finally arrived only about 6 weeks late. He already has her in the water, but she is so new that we do not even have her name on her. She is named "Obiwanders Mas" and I wish Mike would look at me like I have seen him looking at this lady. I overheard him tell a dock neighbor that this is the last boat he will buy. Huummm, is that a promise???

Today is Mike's Birthday and as things have been going for the past few years, he is not home to celebrate. So in honor of his day, I have posted a picture of him taken shortly after we met and another of him taken this past May. Once a hunk, always a hunk. Hubba, hubba!
Sweetheart, I hope you are enjoying your birthday where you are.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIKE!

I can't beleive that this picture was taken almost 1 year ago. The first week in Sept. 2005 we were in Cancun, Mexico with my pen pal of 40 years and her husband. This is Mike and I (middle people) and Brian and Lin. It was one of the most fun times we have ever had. They are a delightful couple and even though it was the first time the 'guys' had actually met, it was as if we were all grand old friends. Lin and Brian are from Liverpool, England. I still smile when I look at these pictures remembering the days we had together. Some time soon we hope to meet up again, maybe in their home country and city. I would love to see England. If you see this Lin, and I hope you do, know that I am thinking of you and wishing to see you again soon. Brian, how is that play going??

I spent several hours putting slides into the computer this weekend. I came upon this picture taken at the Loveland Castle. I cant say that I remember the occasion, but I am sure someone out there will and remind me. Mike O. must have been the photographer. Uncle Mike M is there but all you can see of him is his arm and hand on top of Mikey's head. Is the guy in the hat and sunglasses Uncle Chet? Anyway it is a rare picture of this much Earle & Marge Obert family together that I thought I would share it with you. Hope you enjoy it also.

OK, to be fair to Katy, I was not on that particular bike ride, it was just a nicer picture of Mike than the ones from the rides with me. (see comments on previous posting) So here is Katy on that 3 hour bike ride she took with her dad. But I was not sitting home eating bon-bons. As I remember I was finishing the little wall quilt she wanted for her friend. And going to the fabric store to get the ribbons for the wedding bells.
